We’re the ones on the courts from dawn to dark, feeding balls, fixing grips, and probably owing you a Gatorade. We’ve watched hundreds of you young players come through. The ones who end up on pro tours, college lineups, or just running circles around adults all live by these 10 rules. Ignore them at your own risk.
1. Third-Shot Drop or Stay Home
Driving the third ball is the fastest way to stay average. Learn to drop it soft from anywhere. It’s non-negotiable.
2. Dink Like You’re Trying to Win, Not Survive
Random cross-court dinks don’t cut it. Vary speed, spin, angle, and height on every ball. Force errors.
3. Serve Deep. Return Deep. Every Time.
Short balls hand the point to the other team. Deep serve + deep return + drop = control of the net. Drill it until it’s automatic.
4. Move as a Team or Lose as Individuals
One player up, one back = a gaping hole in the middle. Stay connected side-to-side and front-to-back. Always.
5. Reset Beats Hero Ball Every Single Day
When the heat’s on, block soft or drop it in the kitchen. Staying in the point wins way more games than one big swing.
6. Your Feet Decide the Point
The most expensive paddle in the world can’t save bad footwork. Split-step on every opponent contact. Fast, quiet feet win.
7. Two-Bounce Rule Is Sacred
Volley the return and you just gifted a point. Let the serve bounce. Let the return bounce. Every single time. No exceptions.
8. Stacking Is Now Basic
By 18–20, good partners expect you to stack flawlessly. Learn full stacking and half-stacking cold. It’s standard equipment.
9. Play Up or Stay Comfortable (and Average)
Dominating weaker players feels good until you step up and get exposed. Find the highest level you can survive in and live there. Growth only happens when you’re uncomfortable.
10. Have Fun, But Work Like It’s Your Job
The players cashing pro checks and earning scholarships laugh, joke, and still treat every practice like it matters. Talent opens the door. Obsession walks through it.
Print this. Tape it in your bag. Read it before every session.
We believe in you. Now go prove us right.
